Licking Memorial Diabetes Care
A series of two, 3-hour classes are required to complete the program. Classes are offered twice a month at two locations.

Session 1:
First and second Wednesday of each month, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon
Downtown Education/Conference Room - 2nd Floor
20 West Locust Street, Newark

Session 2:
Third and fourth Wednesday of each month, 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

It is imperative for patients with diabetes to learn how to achieve and maintain good blood glucose control. LMH offers three ways for patients with diabetes to learn more about managing their disease:

Diabetes Self-Management Classes
Our classes, which are recognized by the American Diabetes Association, are designed by our registered nurses, dietitians and pharmacists, and teach patients how to care for themselves on a daily basis. Topics include:

  • How to eat properly
  • Medication management
  • Blood glucose monitoring
  • Importance of activity
  • Problem solving
  • Reducing risks of diabetes complications

One-on-one Education with a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Meter training
  • Insulin instruction
  • Gestational diabetes education
  • General diabetes education

Personalized Dietitian Counseling
LMH's Diabetes Education Program offers two dietitians to assist with one-on-one patient diabetes management.
