On the Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation unit, we provide acute rehabilitation services for patients with impairments caused by illness, surgery, and/or injury.  The goal of the Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation program is to help patients develop the skills necessary to live as independently as possible upon discharge. Our interdisciplinary team develops an individualized rehabilitation program to address the patient's deficits. Potential candidates for LMH's Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation services are patients who have difficulty with one or more of the following functions:
  • Transferring from one surface to another
  • Walking/negotiating steps
  • General mobility
  • Balance or coordination
  • Swallowing
  • Mobility
  • Daily activities, such as eating, grooming, bathing, dressing, homemaking
  • Swallowing
  • Speech/language
  • Memory or judgment
Service Information
To qualify for Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation services at LMH, patients must be able to tolerate at least three hours of therapy a day for five days a week, and have the ability to achieve rehabilitation goals in a reasonable time period.  Patients may be referred to Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation by their physicians, social workers, family members, insurance representatives, case managers, or themselves.
