LMHS Announces 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient November 6, 2026

Licking Memorial Health Systems (LMHS) is pleased to announce that John Hinderer is the 2026 recipient of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.  Created in 1989, the Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honor that LMHS confers each year and recognizes individuals for contributions that reflect LMHS’ mission to improve the health of the community.  Nominees must be of good moral character, show that their work has provided a better quality of life for Licking County citizens, and have provided strong leadership in more than one organization or activity.

John is a distinguished leader in the automotive industry and widely respected for his decades of dedication to operational excellence, community impact, and innovation.  As the Owner and President of The Hinderer Motor Company, a family-owned business established in 1991, John has built a company recognized not only for its strong financial performance but also for outstanding customer service, positive workplace culture, and meaningful community involvement.

Under his leadership, The Hinderer Motor Company has consistently surpassed industry benchmarks and earned numerous honors, including the prestigious Honda President’s Award Elite in 2021, placing it among the top one percent of Honda dealerships nationwide.  That same year, John received the American Honda Motor Company President’s Award.  He has developed one of the Midwest’s most successful independently owned dealerships, setting a high standard for ethical leadership and operational excellence.

“John’s influence extends far beyond his business leadership.  He has made significant investments in the local community through philanthropy, partnerships, and youth-focused initiatives, establishing the dealership as a true community cornerstone,” said LMHS President & CEO Rob Montagnese.  “John fosters a culture centered on growth and mentorship, helping employees advance professionally, while cultivating the next generation of industry leaders.”

“I am truly honored and humbled to be nominated for this award and to be recognized among such an outstanding group of individuals,” John said.  “I have been fortunate to work alongside some amazing people, build relationships throughout our community, and give back to the community that I love.  I am proud of what we have built, and the difference my company is able to make to enhance the quality of life for our neighbors.”

Through John’s guidance and leadership, the Hinderer Motor Company actively participates in various community initiatives, including Red Cross Blood Drives, the United Way Campaign, and the Food Pantry Network of Licking County, donating non-perishable food items to local families in need during the holiday season.  Operating with a strong set of values that include client care, integrity, continuous improvement, and passion, John has guided his company to make a strong commitment to community involvement.  He sets the example by supporting the American Heart Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Licking and Perry Counties, Heath City Schools, the Ohio Cancer Research Associates, Hospice of Central Ohio, and The Midland Theatre.  John has also served on numerous Boards of local non-profit organizations, including Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) and The Ohio State University at Newark, Columbus Automobile Dealer Association, Columbus YMCA, and Newark Rotary.

In addition, John served on the LMHS Board of Directors for nine years, and the LMH Board of Directors for four years.  He has been a faithful supporter of Licking Memorial Health Foundation (LMHF), the non-profit corporation established for the purpose of conducting fundraising activities for the benefit and support of LMHS.  He is a Founder Level Donor and generously offered funds for the 50-foot-wide video screen in the Atrium Lobby of The Center at LMHS, the new education and event center on the LMH campus.  He has also been a generous sponsor of the Golf Gala, LMHF’s largest fundraising event.
