Energy drinks have become increasingly popular among adolescents, particularly young athletes, and while these products may offer a short-term energy spike, the health risks associated with the drinks significantly outweigh any perceived benefit, especially to children and teens whose bodies are still developing.

Ronald “Bren” Henderson coaches football and baseball at Licking Valley High School.  During a football camp this past summer, Bren began experiencing an odd sensation as though his heart had sped up.  After visiting his primary care physician and Licking Memorial Cardiology, Bren learned he had a heart arrhythmia.  As his arrhythmia became more concerning, Bren learned that he was a candidate for heart ablation, a procedure that is offered through Licking Memorial Cardiac Electrophysiology.

When Sherry Hennen began experiencing pressure in her throat, she knew something was not right.  She made an appointment with Katrina M. Timson, M.D., at Licking Memorial Family Practice – East and learned that her thyroid was enlarged and there were nodules present.  Dr. Timson referred Sherry to Kenneth C. Parker, M.D., of Licking Memorial Otolaryngology for further treatment, who recommended that Sherry undergo a thyroidectomy.
